Itinerary
Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Kiware Africa guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
Later, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a pre-climb briefing, covering everything from packing tips to altitude awareness. The evening is yours to relax and prepare.
Hiking Time: ~7 hours
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Marangu Gate, where your climb officially begins.
The trail leads through lush rainforest, banana groves, and coffee farms before reaching Mandara Huts. In the afternoon, opt for a short hike to Maundi Crater, offering stunning views of Kenya on clear days.
The landscape changes dramatically today—from rainforest to moorland and heather-covered slopes. As you gain altitude, the vegetation thins, revealing a barren, lunar-like terrain.
An optional acclimatization hike in the afternoon helps your body adjust and increases your summit chances.
Today’s trek takes you through the alpine desert zone, with views of both the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. This section is exposed and challenging due to the altitude and open terrain.
Once at Kibo Huts, rest and hydrate well in preparation for your early summit attempt.
Hiking Time: ~12 hours
Your summit push begins just after midnight, guided by headlamps and starlight. The climb to Gilman’s Point is steep and strenuous, but once there, it’s a relatively easy walk along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak.
Celebrate your achievement at the top of Africa with sunrise views before descending all the way back to Horombo Huts for a well-earned rest.
Your final trek takes you down through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you officially exit the park. After receiving your summit certificate, your driver will return you to your hotel for a hot shower, good food, and celebration!
It’s time to say goodbye—or continue the adventure! After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
