Itinerary

Day 01 :
Welcome to Tanzania – Arrival and Briefing

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Kiware Africa Safari Tours guide will be ready to greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Take this time to rest and recover from your journey.
Later, you'll meet with your mountain guide for a detailed pre-climb briefing. They'll walk you through the route, gear recommendations, and essential tips to ensure you're fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

Day 02 :
Machame Gate to Machame Camp (1,800 m / 5,905 ft → 2,835 m / 9,301 ft)

Your adventure officially begins! In the morning, your guide will drive you to Machame Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro trek. From here, you’ll hike for 5 to 6 hours through a beautiful rainforest, where the lush greenery slowly gives way to moorland vegetation.
You’ll arrive at Machame Camp, located at the edge of the forest and the start of the heath zone. It’s your first night sleeping at altitude, so be sure to stay hydrated and take it slow.

Day 03 :
Machame Camp to Shira Camp (2,835 m / 9,301 ft → 3,839 m / 12,595 ft)

Today’s trek is steeper as you continue your ascent through open moorland. Early in the hike, you’ll reach Picnic Rock, a scenic spot offering breathtaking views of Kibo and Shira, two of Kilimanjaro’s iconic volcanic peaks.
From there, the trail leads to Shira Camp, where you’ll have lunch and time to relax. For those feeling up to it, an optional acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower (4,630 m) is available to help your body adjust to the altitude.

Day 04 :
Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp (3,839 m / 12,595 ft → 4,630 m / 15,190 ft → 3,950 m / 12,959 ft)

Today’s route takes you on a scenic and challenging trek from Shira Camp to the striking Lava Tower, where you’ll stop for lunch at 4,630 meters. Expect a mix of uphill and downhill stretches, with incredible panoramic views throughout the day.
As you gain altitude, you may start to feel its effects—so pace yourself carefully. After lunch, you descend to Barranco Camp, located at the base of the dramatic Barranco Wall, one of the most iconic features on the Machame Route.

Day 05 :
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,950 m / 12,959 ft → 4,040 m / 13,254 ft)

The day begins with a thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall, a favorite stretch for many climbers due to its adventurous terrain and the stunning views from the top. From there, you’ll enjoy panoramic vistas of Kibo Volcano and Mount Meru in the distance.The journey to Karanga Camp continues with a series of ascents and descents—challenging but rewarding. Once at camp, you’ll have lunch and time to rest. In the afternoon, you can take an optional acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp to help your body adjust for summit night.

Day 06 :
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,040 m / 13,254 ft → 4,645 m / 15,239 ft)

Today’s trek takes you to Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit attempt. You’ll arrive around lunchtime and have time to rest and refuel.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to do an acclimatization hike up to Kosovo Summit Camp (4,870 m) and back—helping your body prepare for the final ascent. As you soak in the stunning views of the surrounding peaks, you’ll also start mentally preparing for the unforgettable summit push that begins around midnight.

Day 07 :
Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Millennium Camp (4,645 m / 15,239 ft → 5,895 m / 19,340 ft → 3,820 m / 12,532 ft)

This is the moment you've been preparing for – summit day! Just after midnight, you begin your ascent from Barafu Camp toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The trail is well-defined, but the high altitude makes this stretch physically and mentally demanding.

Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable experience—bask in the incredible views and celebrate your achievement at 5,895 m. After soaking in the moment, you begin your descent back down to Millennium Camp, where you’ll rest and recover after this remarkable day.

Day 08 :
Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate to Hotel (3,820 m / 12,532 ft → 1,640 m / 5,380 ft)

After a night of well-earned rest in the lush rainforest at Millennium Camp, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and proud of your summit achievement. Following breakfast, you’ll enjoy a gentle descent through the forest to Mweka Gate, where your Kilimanjaro adventure officially ends.

At the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate before your driver takes you back to the hotel. Take the rest of the day to relax and reflect on your incredible journey—an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Day 09 - 10 :
Departure – Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport

As your unforgettable journey comes to an end, enjoy your final moments in Tanzania with some well-deserved rest and reflection. When it’s time, our driver will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
